REMEMBER
- New skills take practice, and visualization is a practice technique
- Visualization allows you to mentally rehearse leadership behaviors in advance
- The more you practice visualization the better you will get…
- …and the more likely your mental rehearsals are to be stored in your habitual mind!
- It’s NOT a vision board (although there’s nothing wrong with a vision board!)
- This has NOTHING to do with the Law of Attraction
ANTICIPATE
- It’s easy to procrastinate or put off practice…
- It’s easy to get distracted…
- It’s hard to visualize situations you’ve never encountered…
PLAN
- …use walking breaks to practice visualization
- …turn your phone to silent
- …ask people who’ve “been there, done that…” to share their experience
REPEAT
- Think about challenging situations in advance
- If you’re anxious about a coming challenging, that’s your cue to practice visualization/mentally rehearse the situation
- Build practice time into your daily routine
