A sugar high is a momentary burst of energy. It feels good but fades fast.
Pep-talks that over rely on encouragement give "sugar highs".
"You can do it!" is encouragement. Other common examples include "I have faith in you" and "Everything will be okay".
People feel better for a moment, but then reality sets in.
They lack the stamina to fight through the issues that caused the pep-talk in the first place!
To be more than a sugar high, you have to explain exactly what to do next, why they should do it and how they should start.
