The #WinToday philosophy is based on "mental time travel".
"Mental time travel" is the ability to recall the past and think into the future (Endel Tulving, PhD).
An effective leader has to manage their employee's mental time travel.
How mental time travel impacts leadership -
- Employees tend to remember the negative and discount the positive. That's why they quickly lose confidence.
- Employees prefer the status quo. That's why they resist change.
- Employees engage in "should, ought, must thinking" about the future. That's why they are easily dissatisfied.
- Employees pin their happiness to fulfilled expectations. That's why they crave certainty.
