A bad pep-talk is worse than no pep-talk at all!
What makes a bad pep-talk?
- You do all the talking
- You don't listen
- You never acknowledge how the person feels
- You never identify a possible flaw in their thinking
- You don't offer a more realistic and optimistic way of thinking
- You over rely on your personality to pump them back up
You pat the person on the back, tell them everything will be okay and go back about your management routine.
When this happens you hard wire their negative attitude.
