Self-confidence, self esteem & self efficacy are different psychological constructs.
- Self confidence - belief in one's personal worth and likelihood of succeeding
- Self efficacy - belief in one's capacity to succeed at tasks
- Self esteem - refers to general feelings of self-worth or self-value
- Self concept - how we perceive ourselves
PRACTICE TIP - think about newer employees performing tasks for the first time. They can be confident and still have low self efficacy. Until they succeed in newer tasks they may be somewhat hesitant.
