Reading body language and other non-verbal cues is a listening skill. What's NOT being said can speak volumes!
There are often disconnects between what someone is saying and what they're really thinking and feeling. What to look for -
- Posture - suggests confidence & commitment
- Eye contact - suggests trust & truthfulness
- Facial expressions - suggests the emotions & feelings
PRACTICE TIP - observe others in conversation. Watch how the listener is reacting to the person talking. Can you anticipate the listener's response? Now focus on the person talking. Are their body language, eye contact and facial expressions supporting their message?
